How to Get Your First 1000 Followers on Twitter

Since Elon Musk took over Twitter has transformed into one of the best opportunities for making money through social media. Almost all of us create a Twitter account, write a few tweets and wait for the follower count to increase. But days turn into weeks and weeks into months and follower count is still nowhere near 50 to 70. You scroll through Twitter and see others crushing it and you start to wonder: What am I doing wrong?

The truth is grow your Twitter followers takes more than just posting random thoughts. There is an actual strategy that does not depend on the algorithm. 1. Optimize Your Profile

To grow from 0 to 1000 Twitter followers you need to set up your account so that people want to follow you. Most people do this wrong. They either try to copy big creators like Alex Hormozi, Dan Koe, Dakota Robertson or worse they throw up a random profile with no strategy.

What actually you need:

• A strong profile picture that makes you recognizable on the timeline.
• A banner that highlights your value. Whether its a personal photo or a professionally designed banner it should clearly communicate your niche.
• A compelling bio that tells people exactly who you are and why they should follow you.

Even if you go viral you will not gain followers unless your profile is optimized. Take the time to get this right.

2. Pin a High Converting Tweet

Most people do not realize the power of a pinned tweet. When you are first starting out it should be a personal story that connects with your audience.

Here are two hooks you can use today:

1. The Personal Journey Hook: 10 years ago I was [struggling]. Today I am [successful]. This should highlight your transformation. For example:
• 10 years ago I was addicted to video games and had no direction. Today I run a seven figure agency and spend quality time with my family.
2. The “Who is This?” Hook: Who is [Your Name]? List personal traits, be authentic and tell people why you are worth following.

Write a great tweet, pair it with a strong photo and pin it to your profile. This will make your profile convert like a follower machine.

3. Steal Followers Using the 20-20-20 Method

This is a highly effective strategy for gaining your first 1000 followers. How it works:

Make a list of 60 accounts to engage with.

• 20 accounts with over 100k followers and set notifications for these accounts and engage with them.
• 20 accounts with 10k to 50k followers. These are mid tier creators with solid engagement.
• 20 accounts with fewer than 10k followers. Engage with people at your level and slightly above.

Use Twitter list feature to organize these accounts. Then spend 30 to 60 minutes per day engaging with their content and commenting with real value not just generic replies. This creates a network effect that will push you beyond 1000 Twitter followers.

4. Use DMs to Build Genuine Connections

Twitter DMs are more powerful than people realize. You should be sending 5 to 10 messages per day to build relationships. But do not use automation tools or spam messages. Instead send something like this:

Hey [Name] I was just scrolling through your profile and really liked [specific post]. Keep them coming!

This does two things:

1. It makes a genuine connection.
2. It increases your chances of being seen on their For You page.

5. Play the Long Game

One of my favorite quotes from Bill Gates is: Most people overestimate what they can do in one year and underestimate what they can do in ten years.

The moment you realize this is a long game you will set yourself up for success. Show up every day, implement these five steps and let time work in your favor.
